Director of Training Jim Rutherford retired after completing
31 years service with Lothian and Borders Police 27 years spent with the Dog
Section.
He has worked and trained a number of German Shepherds to the highest standards
qualifying all his dogs at regional Police Dog Trials. He has been the Scottish
Police Dog Champion on 2 occasions and has competed at the National Police
Dog Championships.
He has worked a drugs detection dog and for the last 4 years worked an explosive
detection dog. He has assisted other forces at some of the most high profile
events in Britain in the last few years including events covering the Royal
Family.
He is a member of the British
Institute of Professional Dog Trainers and Dog
Industry UK and National
Association of Security Dog Users.
